iPod Video Output - how will they do it
If you're running a 5th Gen iPod then video output (to a TV or projector) can happen in tow different ways. Firstly, you can splurge on a Apple AV cable that takes the 3.5mm connection that's normally used for the headphones and delivers two channels of audio and one of video. That cable, by the way, is the same as the cable that comes with many video cameras with the video and one audio channel switched to make it seem "special". Also, Apple seems to use a high quality lead as cheaper ones I've tried only deliver black and white video.
The second method requires an iPod dock and an S-Video cable. Both work well although I prefer the dock solution as it lets you take advantage of an Apple Remote Control.

However, an image at 9to5Mac suggests that the iPhone's video output might be possible via the dock connector. That makes sense to me given that it's able to pump audio out to speaker rigs. Also , the S-Video connector on the Dock can only be getting it's video via the Dock Connector. This also gels with what we saw at Macworld in January 2007 where the iPhone was demonstrated live on the big screen.
By the way, the other iPhones in the image, with the larger docks that are supposed to house the new Apple Bluetooth headset are fakes. In fact, the entire image is actually a pretty good Photoshop job.
