Bluetooth Security

I'm posting this entry from a train. I'm on my way to work and am catching up email, RSS and FaceBook. All of a sudden, a Bluetooth pairing request appears on my screen from someone/somethig called Talk to Me.
Those that know me have an understanding of my gregarious nature. Put me in just about any crowd and I'll start talking to someone. However, anonymously pinging me via Bluetooth on a train is bad form in my opinion.
Part of the problem is my own doing. I should have unchecked the "Discoverable" option for Bluetooth. I used it last night and I've become a little complacent at switching it off recently. However, I'm wondering why Apple hasn't modified OS X so that discoverability is only active for a few munutes. Most mobile phones automatically turn off discoverability after a predetermined interval. My Nokia N95 even lets me specify that time.
The lesson - make sure you disable any potential openings to your system unless you absolutely need them on for a specific reason.
