Still on communications
Over at Hydrapinion, I've popped out a story that expands on a couple of recent stories I did for APC. I give some thought to Australia's National Broadband Network and what users want from an ISP.
The story is here for your reading pleasure.
The Kogan Agora 2 - details leaked
Earlier this year, Ruslan Kogan, the founder of Kogan, garnered global coverage with his announcement of the Agora - reported to be the world's first mobile phone running Android. Kogan was forced to "delay indefinitely" the release and it's safe to say that Agora 1 will never see light of day. I had the chance to play with one last night and my buddy, Gizmodo editor Nick Broughall took a few photos.
I got some time with Ruslan Kogan last night and he revealed some details of the Agora 2. The story's over at APC for your reading pleasure.
Mobile and Fixed Broadband all in one
Over at APC, I've published a story on Aussie ISP gotalk and their latest broadband plans.
Sol's Stolen Mobile Remotely Wiped
Telstra boss, Sol Trujillo suffered a rather embarrassing loss at the hands of one of Barcelona's notorious pick-pockets. His mobile phone, loaded up with the top secret version of the next version of Windows Mobile was stolen.
In a confidential chat with a Microsoft staffer, I discovered that the loss was actually very minor and that he device was remotely bricked before any information was shared.
Telstra Announces Turbo21 Mobile Broadband
Last week, Telstra announced that they'll be upgrading their mobile Internet network to 21 Mbps - that's faster than most ADSL services. However, I'm a little skeptical of the claims.
Telstra NextG Turns 21 - So What
I've just published this yarn over at Hydrapinion. Telstra recently secured a place in the Guinness Book of Records as having the fastest mobile broadband network.
Telstra announced at the annual GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that their NextG mobile broadband network would be given a speed bump up to speedy 21Mbps - that's better than what most Australians get on their ADSL connections. Of course, it will all depend on whether the rated speed is anything like what will happen in the real world.

Loving the Palm Revival
Another week and another post over at Hydrapinion. This week, I give some thought to the incredible renaissance over at Palm.
...the new Palm Pre has buoyed the hopes of a market that's all but dominated, at least as far as mindshare goes, by the iPhone. As far as hardware goes, the Pre is unspectacular. It seems to be something of a cross between the iPhone and the HTC Touch Duo. The magic of the Pre is in the software.
